Andrew Thomas
L.A. artist Andrew Thomas announces the release of Resonance & Resistance, his second offering of bass-centric compositions. Resonance & Resistance features nine original songs and one cover, a re-imagining of Paul McCartney's hit, "Maybe I'm Amazed," performed solely on bass guitar and percussion. To complete Resonance & Resistance, Thomas collaborated with a number of talented musicians, including renowned vocalists Erica Canales, Toddy Walters and Julie Zielinski, as well as guitarist Evan Rodaniche. The result is a tapestry woven of many musical styles, performed instrumentally and with vocals. Thomas freely flows between rock, funk, fusion and hip-hop with his unique and driving bass providing the stylistic common denominator. Resonance & Resistance ultimately is a collection of catchy hooks, passionate melodies and ambient moods that transcend genre -- accessible to all music lovers. Resonance & Resistance is the follow up to Thomas' debut offering, Then... and Today, a similarly bass-centric collection featuring songs written during a 15-year span. Then... and Today features one cover, a re-imagining of the Police's "King of Pain," performed solely on bass guitar and percussion. Both CDs are available on iTunes, Amazon and via Thomas' myspace site, myspace.com/andrewthomasbass, for $9.90. Thomas also is the author of GARAGE TO GIGS: A Musician's Guide. In this book, Thomas guides musicians through the steps of forming and joining bands, and then offers practical steps to take those bands to the stage. GARAGE TO GIGS is published by Billboard Books, an imprint of Random House, and is available at Amazon.com and booksellers everywhere.
