This event raises money specifically for the food program of OUR Center, serving residents of Longmont and the surrounding St. Vrain Valley, with over 100,000 free meals in 2008 to low-income families and over 12,000 food boxes. This is a fun, family and community-oriented event, and for a ticket price of only $17 ($20 at door), attendees select a pottery or ceramic bowl made especially for the event to take home as a reminder of those who are hungry – they also enjoy soup, bread, and dessert (donated by over 20 area restaurants) at the event with hundreds of others from the community. Empty Bowls includes a silent auction featuring the work of over 100 local artists in mediums including ceramic, clay, jewelry, acrylic painting, quilting, wood, fiber, and others. |
