Corporate Social Responsibility: The New Business Model It's now both a daunting and complex challenge to raise a child in today's society. If it's not themedia instilling negative images and propaganda, its the internet giving access to porn and confusing information. Now even large corporations are in on the distortion of our kids minds by introducing products that are violent and brute or just give the wrong message mainly in video games, clothing, and music. Many of these corporations have a dominant role in what our kids are seeing and doing in society- and they capitalize on it almost effortlessly. The sad thing about this phenomenon is that the public cannot start writing letters to petition these corporations to close or stop making these products, because they have too much money, power and influence within the nuts and bolts that keep our economy afloat. However, many 21st century company's are now moving into a new paradigm; embarking on a social responsible mission to profit in business while giving something back to society. I have found a company online that has offset the old approach and is opening a new market for positive products that our kids can relate to. It's a for profit company with a concrete social responsibility. Hood Luv Clothing Company™ has great clothing styles with positive messages designed on them, which gives consumers something high quality, upbeat, and stylish - and also reinforces positive self images and ideals that people from all generations and nationalities can appreciate. Additionally, part of this company's mission is to become involved in communities around world to help create specialized programs for youth and to provide internships and employment for at risks teens. Another built to last empire that has transitioned into this paradigm is everyone's favorite ice cream manufacturer Ben & Jerry's: now only using bio-degradable materials for their product packaging, and has adopted a program to help end poverty through their outstanding webpage. Their new 'One' program is joining with other non-profit organizations to create awareness about global poverty and to create legislation to allocate more US resources towards the fight against hunger. In the end, life is about balance. Business's around the world that employ thousands and thousands of people and make millions on top of millions of dollars can now give back something to society and create a win/win situation across the board. It satisfies our economical and ethical desires, and reaches our youth as examples of how to live well without taking the negative measures exploited through contemporary media. This is truly what we need in society, for our economy, for our parents, and for our youth.
