| Evergreen Summerfest 2009 |
The Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) is pleased to announce that the 30th Annual Summerfest Arts Festival is July 18th and 19th 10am-5pm on the athletic fields at Buchanan Park. Admission to the festival is $2 for adults; children are free. This spectacular arts and crafts festival has a rich heritage in Evergreen and is one of the premier summer events in Evergreen. Summerfest Arts Festival, a juried art show, features over 100 artisans from across the country in varied mediums, including ceramics, digital art, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, wood, and more! Local vendors will be selling food and beverages during the festival. Also, local community groups and nonprofits will have information materials available in our community booth section. Bring a non-perishable food item and you will be eligible to win a work of art – benefits go to ECHO Food Bank.
Festival guests will be entertained with live music and performances by a variety of local talents throughout the weekend. Some returning favorites include the Evergreen Chorale, the Evergreen Children’s Chorale, Ashley Raines, Eric Roberts, and the Mountain Kahia Dancers. We are excited to add some new performers this year, which include Maranda Jane, Mulligan Stew, A Cappella, The Rocket 88s, Calico & Boots, Shadow Mountain Band, Tanglewood, Patrick Emerine, and the Alpine Brass Trio. The festival has entertainment for all ages – we will have children’s face painting, structured craft activities, and unstructured art making in a children’s creative area.
Parking locations include most of the Buchanan Rec Center lots, the office park lots south of the Buchanan Ponds off of Castle Ct., the RTD lot north of the festival, and the back parking lots at Bergen Village with a shuttle right to the festival. No smoking or pets are allowed at the festival site. Summerfest Arts Festival is produced by the Center for the Arts Evergreen, a nonprofit organization whose mission is “To promote and cultivate artistic excellence in the visual and performing arts in order to enrich the art experience in our mountain community.” The Center fulfills its mission with such programs as Arts in the Schools; Art Scholarships; Art in the Park; Paint, Sculpt, Shoot Evergreen; Brown Bag Luncheon Lecture Series; monthly art exhibitions in the Center’s galleries; and providing a meeting place for other arts organizations like the Evergreen Artist Association and Arts for the Mountain Community.
