Jim Kopp was born in Ohio and raised in both Pennsylvania and Florida. He and his wife moved to Casper, Wyoming, 13 years ago. After his mother died in 1999, he picked up a paintbrush and has been pushing paint and making mixed media objects ever since.
Genuinely self-taught, Jim uses whatever materials he finds or whatever shows up at his doorstep.
A local favorite, he has hundreds of paintings scattered across the United States and Canada. Jim also plays Jazz vibraphone and drum set. When he’s not painting or gigging, Jim spends his time with his wife and two children, ages 6 and 4.
