Healthy Weight Loss
I would like to share with you some dieting basics that everyone should know. With obesity growing at epidemic rates, one of the biggest concerns for Americans should be portion control. According to the Center for Disease Control, in 1999-2000, an estimated 64 percent of adults in the United States were either obese or overweight. The #1 problem with obesity today is that people are eating for every reason, except that they are truly hungry.

The true explanation for the obesity epidemic is simple: Americans are eating more total calories. I am pretty sure I will never go back to being obese though

The better the food tastes, the more likely you are to stick to your plan. It is quite possible to bring your blood glucose levels under control without being in ketosis. Ketones suppress appetite, but they also cause fatigue, nausea, and a potentially dangerous fluid loss.

A champion athlete burns calories at a tremendous rate while an out-of-shape individual needs very few calories to exist. While many nutritionists balk at the idea of regimented dieting, all agree that a return to healthier eating habits is the first step in combating this growing trend.

Most weight-loss books are scientifically and nutritionally unsound, and many are so unsound, they are dangerous. Lifetime Maintenance is the Atkins diet phase that becomes your way of life after you’ve achieved the weight loss you want. Studies have shown that eating smaller but more frequent meals lead to more weight loss success than eating the same amount in 2 or 3 larger meals per day.

Just cut back carbs by 5 grams a day and you should see steady, slow weight loss. If you try an apple, two slices of bread, and a banana daily and notice that your weight loss has stalled, you've gone too far. Side effects of a low carb diet include fatigue, brain "fog" (the inability to focus, poor memory, loss of creativity), low blood sugar (which can lead to hypoglycemia), intestinal bloating, sleepiness, depression and increased blood sugar.

The Glycemic Index has been research-tested on real people who have the same kinds of weight-loss and health issues as you. To ensure losses, I removed 50 calories from my daily diet to bring my intake down to 2450 calories.

In order to facilitate your weight loss, I recommend a diary of your eating and activity habits, recorded on a daily basis, especially in the first few weeks. Taking the time to learn about the basics of nutrition, exercise, and healthier living is the key to success.

Of course before changing you diet or going on any exercise or weight loss regime you should consult with your doctor. There are more health hazards than weight gain when one is insulin resistant.
