Extreme hikers, strap on your backpack for an arduous day hike to legendary Mount Holy Cross, summit 14,005 feet. An elevation gain of 5,643 feet, steep grades, and bouldering for a round-trip distance of over 10 miles ensure challenging hiking.
Hike, four-wheel or dirt bike to Holy Cross City, a genuine gold miner ghosttown dating back to 1880. Extensive cabin ruins and dilapidated mining equipment will keep you exploring for hours. This popular hardcore four-wheel trail also offers access to remote hiking, wildlife viewing and fishing opportunities at a multitude of high-alpine lakes.
A guided trek or group travel is highly recommended for your first outback adventure in the Holy Cross Wilderness.
