| Music Brings Hope to Impoverished Women and Children in Uganda |
|
|
Fabbian Songs of Hope, a compilation of contemporary Ugandan music, does just that – brings hope and optimism to many women and children in Uganda who witness the harsh realities of absolute poverty. Fabbian Songs of Hope is available exclusively from Project Have Hope at a mere cost of $10.00.
Fabbian, born Patrick Nyero, lends his talent and life story through lyrics to Project Have Hope, on his CD, Fabbian Songs of Hope. Fabbian was born in the war-torn area of Gulu in Northern Uganda, in a small village called “Cet-Kana” and hails from the Patiko clan of the Acholi people. In 1997, at the age of 13, his father was killed at the hands of the rebels in Gulu. Fabbian turned to music to help him cope with the loss. His early release, “Bedo Kic Lit”, focused on the pain of being an orphan. But later, his songs turned into songs of hope and encouragement to fellow orphans. Through his music, Fabbian brings social problems to the forefront. His song, Unite Up! Implores political leaders to bring an end to violence that continues in Uganda. Fabbian now lives with his mother in the Acholi Quarter in Uganda.
One Hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of Fabbians Songs of Hope support, empower and improve the members of Project Have Hope www.projecthavehope.org. The non-profit organization, founded by Karen Sparacio, strives to build and sustain a better life for women and children in the Acholi Quarter of Uganda. Ms. Sparacio has raised over $100,000 since Project Have Hope’s inception in 2006 through fundraising efforts including donations, online sales of Fabbian Songs of Hope and by selling thousands of strands of necklaces and bracelets at every Boston-based craft show or event.
These fundraising efforts have allowed Ms. Sparacio and Project Have Hope to reach significant milestones including:
• Paying the fees for 73 children to attend school including buying all necessary school supplies, uniforms, mattresses, blankets, towels, etc. • Distributing loans enabling 24 women to start or expand a business • Enrolling 14 women in vocational training programs • Building a meeting place for the members
“When I visit the Acholi Quarter, people pull at me and beg me to help them, to give them anything, but there are so many people, too many people and I’m only one person,” expressed Ms. Sparacio, founder of Project Have Hope. “They see the money that I’ve brought in to the community and don’t understand why I can’t help them. I hear myself saying, over and over again, I’m sorry, but I can’t help them at this time and I must move on.”
To offer assistance to Project Have Hope, the colorful handmade jewelry can be purchased online at www.projecthavehope.org. Sponsoring a child is also available for a nominal fee of $150.00 for an annual day school tuition or $450.00 for annual boarding school tuition. In addition, people can host their own bead parties where they share the hand crafted jewelry with friends, family and their community.
About Project Have Hope Project Have Hope is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that seeks to empower women in the Acholi Quarter of Uganda by providing education to both the women and their children and assisting the women to establish business opportunities to promote economic stability and sustainability.
