Art-lovers take note
The Center for the Arts,
Evergreen’s annual
Summerfest Arts Festival
on July 19 and 20, is moving
to an even larger and more
convenient location this year!

hanks to the Evergreen Parks and Recreation District, this culturally rich, nationally renowned event will be held less than five minutes from I-70, at Buchanan Park – located at Evergreen Parkway and Squaw Pass Road.

What won’t change is the wide variety of vendors, entertainment, music and breathtaking views. For this year’s Summerfest, the Center for the Arts Evergreen is bringing 113 artists, 15 performers, and an expanded fun craft activities area for kids.
The new location has plenty of space to showcase artisans from across the country in varied mediums, including ceramics, digital art, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, wood, and more. Returning after a three-year hiatus are Barbara and Guy Beals, whose paintings of pressed flowers and leaves always impress. The Beals are excited about the new location’s grassy, flat terrain. Guy says that set up will be much easier for them and the grass will provide a nice surface. Ralph Parker has been doing art festivals in Evergreen for over 25 years and feels that the new location has much more visibility. Since the festival will be seen from the highway, Ralph expects new people will visit Summerfest and hopefully, purchase his contemporary mirrors!
Local vendors will be selling food and beverages, and community groups and art galleries will have booths to provide attendees with free information and materials about all that Evergreen has to offer residents and visitors.
Festival guests will be entertained with live music and performances by a variety of local talents throughout the weekend. Saturday performers include Ashley Raines, Kinetic Arts Dance Studio, Evergreen Children’s Chorale, Evergreen Chorale, Ridge Runner Square Dance Club, Caji & Salomé, Outlandos Del Mar, and The Muses. Sunday performers include Concept, Mountain Kahia Dancers, Mondragon, The Hippogriffs, Sharla Jackson Light, Nick’s Pro Fitness, and Eric Roberts.
The festival has entertainment for all ages. Children’s face painting, structured craft activities, and unstructured art-making will be available in a children’s creative area next to the playground.
> Accessibility and parking
Visitors from both the mountain community and the city will have easy access to the festival and convenient parking within walking distance. Parking locations include most of the Buchanan Rec Center lots, the office park lots south of the Buchanan Ponds, and the RTD lot north of the festival. The Center for the Arts Evergreen is adjacent to the festival, allowing visitors to explore the facility exhibiting artwork by local artists from the Painted Toe Society and the Artists with Altitude.
While the event is open to children and adults of all ages, we request that pets be left at home.
