Have a digital camera? Like to write? Like to tell a
story ... in images AND words? And ... wish to share
the story for fun and profit on the world-wide-web?
The site www.photoessaynetwork.com, launched in 2008, provides the opportunity for ANY level photographer to
participate. "PEN" offers an inexpensive, down-loadable image idea with editorial and explanatory commentary ... it is an "album with an attitude"!
The February, 2009 offering is "A TRIP DOWN SILO ROAD",
a 120 slide photo essay containing 100 images. Vintage silos, barns and farms from the 19th and early 20th centuries is the theme. Iconic images from multiple locations across the USA are included! Editorial commentary focuses on the disappearing "family" farm in the USA and the impact on attitudes and work ethics in the 21st century. The empty, solo farm silo in rural America is viewed as a fading symbol of this by-gone era.
Customers can down-load this entire photo-essay for $18.95 OR individual photos $2.99 - $9.99 ... such as the photo of the classic "Mail Pouch Tobacco Barn". This one is in southwestern Pennsylvania. A history of these barns is part
of the documentary. Users can down-load, save, print and
display any of the images for personal or gift use. Commercial display rights are available at a modest additional cost.
New PEN Photo-Essays under development are on such diverse subjects as "Skydiving", "Strange Road Signs", "Unusual Architecture", and "Flyfishing Across America". New ideas are always being sought and can be submitted to ideas@photoessaynetwork.com
The "Photo Essay Network" utilizes 21st century technology to preserve and distribute images and ideas about and from the past. It truly IS ... "An Album with an Attitude"! What's your "PEN" idea?
