Do you know that Poison control gets over 1 1/2 million calls a year about accidental poisoning. Poisoning is the 4th leading cause of death in children... From household products. Toxins are absorbed through:
Swallowing, Breathing and Touch - now think about your cleaners, lotions, hair care, deodorants, laundry....do you know what chemicals they contain?
Last July, my husband Jeff was diagnosed with cancer, this of course is not uncommon it was devastating news to him and to our family, he is a young 45 year old, that otherwise was very healthy, after the shock of the news, the questions why, how, came along, his doctors couldn't give us a straight answer, cancer does not run in his family, he was not a high risk candidate to develop any type of cancer by genes alone, so what was the cause?
We kept asking this question over and over again, until his oncologist suggested that he might been exposed to some form of cancer-causing agent, he started asking questions about his work, whether he was exposed to hazardous chemicals etc, etc. Then he asked about the products we used at home, we gave him list of the products we generally used at home, cleaners, laundry, personal hygiene, the doctor look at the list and told us to check the ingredients in those products and to consider finding alternative products in our home, he had a suspicion that something my husband has been exposed to was a big contributor on him developing cancer.
That was a bigger shock, we have used these products all of our lives, does this means we are being poison everyday in our own homes, the answer is yes, we are and we didn't know about it, I knew that every time I did my laundry with bleach, the clothes were coming out with holes in them, but it never occurred to me that bleach was possibly doing the same thing in our bodies, then I really started looking at the kitchen cleaners that I used to clean my counters, I found out that I needed a Chemistry degree to understand what is that I have been using for years and unwittingly helping to poison my family, little by little everyday.
Daily exposure and repeated use of household toxins is what is the concern..... Cancers, Asthma, allergies, migraines, etc. Indoor air is worse than outdoor air because of the cleaners and personal care products .. .and the OUTGASSING that occurs every second of the day.
Children are more vulnerable because they breath 2 to 3x faster than an adult AND they are closer to the ground and chemicals are heavy in the air. Also whatever you clean your floors with are what children crawl on and then put their fingers in their mouths. A 15 year study said that women who stay at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer.. .they found this was due to household chemicals.
Quanternium 15 is a formaldehyde releaser and cancer-causing agent. Check the back of your baby shampoo, toothpastes, etc. For this awful ingredient.
Lavender in baby products - look on back for warning for children with respiratory issues... Known to cause asthma! Asthma has increased by 600% since 1980! ( because of chemicals introduced into household products)
Cascade - burns mouth and throat contains bleach. Clorox - cheap and does the job... What are the side effects? Contains a sensitizer that can be fatal if swallowed... Especially hazardous to people/kids with asthma. Skin and eye irritant. Cancer-causing ingredients. Tide and Cheer -both contain known carcinogens. Irritants that cause asthma.
Lysol, 409, comet, Ajax, Fantastic, Windex- - neurotoxic ingredients... Damages central nervous system kidney and liver. Readily absorbed through the skin. Damages the blood and the bodies ability to make blood. Listed as pesticide! There has been an Increase in childhood cancer since pesticides have been released in cleaners.
You can gain all this information but not very easily. You can look up MSDS sheet etc. These companies know that and will continue putting toxins/chemicals in their products because they are protected by something called Trade Secrets and are not required by law to list all their ingredients on their containers.
As parents, we want to protect our children, after my husband diagnose and subsequent treatment, we decided to look for a safer alternative to all the hazardous chemicals in our home, after months of searching we found a company that manufactures alternative products that are safer to our homes, our families and the enviroment, we have eliminated all the hazardous chemicals in our home, this company doesn't advertise, instead uses the word of mouth from people like us, that have switched to a safer healthy living and you can too...
